Maria Wilfong Dead, Patrick Dempsey Hurt in Broadside Accident on Watkins Road near Malton Switch Road

 
GLENN COUNTY, CA (December 15, 2022) — Maria Wilfong died in a two-car crash on Watkins Road near Malton Switch Road.
 
According to reports, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened Friday around 4:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, 59-year-old Wilfong, of Corning, drove through the stop sign at Malton Switch Road. Subsequently, her northbound vehicle crashed into a westbound Ford Transit van driven by Patrick Dempsey.
 
As a result of the impact, Wilfong sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. Arriving paramedics found Dempsey who was not wearing a seatbelt with major injuries and transported him to Enloe Hospital with major injuries.
 
It’s unclear what drove the accident. Although, CHP officers do not believe alcohol played a role. If anyone has more information on this accident, please call the CHP.
