VISALIA, CA (September 11, 2023) — Marco Martinez and Homero Alonso face charges in a hit-and-run DUI accident on Highway 198 near County Center Drive.
 
According to the Visalia Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver struck a car but fled the scene. Subsequently, the victim followed the suspect until officers took over.
 
From there, two men leaped out of the vehicle, leaving behind a loaded 9 mm handgun inside the truck. However, the suspects did not flee far. Police arrested 29-year-old Martinez and booked him into the Tulare County jail for DUI. His inebriated 28-year-old passenger, Alonso, sought hospital care and received a citation.
