Pedestrian Marcelino Ventura Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on Sherwood Avenue in McFarland

 
MCFARLAND, CA (April 6, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Sherwood Avenue in McFarland, late Saturday evening.
 
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Marcelino Tenorio Ventura of Delano, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on April 2 just west of Garzoli Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ventura was walking on Sherwood Avenue outside of a crosswalk when a 2004 GMC Sierra struck him.
 
Responding emergency crews declared Ventura died at the scene.
 
The 17-year-old driver initially left the scene of the crash before returning.
 
The use of drugs or alcohol is still under investigation, according to CHP. Anyone with information about the crash should call CHP Bakersfield Area at 661-396-6600.
