Morning Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley Kills Two People

 
SUN VALLEY, CA (February 20, 2023) – A man and a woman died in a fiery accident on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley Friday morning on February 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:20 a.m. just north of 170 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a minivan was stalled in freeway lanes when a tractor-trailer truck hit the vehicle. The impact caused the van to burst into flames.
 
The 28-year-old man from Sunland and the 80-year-old woman from Panorama City were inside the minivan when the crash occurred. Both died at the scene.
 
A third vehicle was also involved in the crash.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
