Pedestrian Killed in Long Beach Accident on Pacific Coast Highway near Orange Avenue

 
LONG BEACH, CA (November 23, 2022) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway, Monday evening.
 
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident happened on November 21, at about 9:30 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a westbound 2017 Chevy Silverado hit the victim near Orange Avenue.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old driver of the Chevy remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders believe that the pedestrian attempted to cross against the red light. Speed and impairment were ruled out as factors in the incident.
 
Long Beach police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
