Man Suffered Serious Injuries in Pedestrian Accident on Grand Avenue near Kendall Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 12, 2022) — A man suffered serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on Grand Avenue on Thursday, December 8.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday. A 66-year-old man tried to cross Grand Avenue from north to south at Kendall Street in an unmarked crosswalk.
Simultaneously, a man drove a Toyota Camry eastbound on Grand Avenue. Police said the pedestrian walked into the path of the Camry and the vehicle struck him.
The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries. His injuries include a fractured pelvis, fractured nose, multiple abrasions, and lacerations to his forehead and eyebrow. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
SDPD’s traffic division handles the ongoing investigation of the crash.
