CHP Officer Sustains Injuries after SUV Crashes into His Patrol Car in Garden Grove, Kystal Ramos Arrested for DUI

 
GARDEN GROVE, CA (December 12, 2022) – A CHP officer was injured and Krystal Amy Ramos was arrested in a DUI crash in Garden Grove on December 4.
 
The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. on westbound 22 Freeway near Euclid Street. According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the officer was assisting another driver who was having car problems when an SUV smashed into his patrol vehicle.
 
The impact caused him injuries, leaving him trapped inside his vehicle.
 
Responding firefighters were able to free him. He was then taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Ramos, 36, was the one driving the SUV. She was also taken to a hospital, but quickly released and taken into custody.

There were two juveniles, a girl and a boy, in the car with Ramos at the time. They were released to a family member. Neither of them was injured in the crash.

Police booked Ramos on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment.

Further investigation is underway.
