Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident on West Willows Road over 8 Freeway [Alpine, CA]

Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Injuries after Car Fails to Yield on West Willows Road in Alpine Area

 
ALPINE, CA (January 12, 2023) – A man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on West Willows Road in Alpine Friday evening on January 6.
 
Just before 8:00 p.m., the 53-year-old El Cajon man was riding his motorcycle southbound on West Willows Road over the 8 Freeway. At the same time, a 39-year-old El Cajon man was driving a 2021 Honda Sedan from eastbound 8 Freeway to the West Willows Road off-ramp.
 
When the Honda driver approached the intersection, he failed to yield to the motorcyclist as he turned to northbound West Willows Road. Before the vehicles could collide, the motorcyclist fell to the ground, leaving him with serious injuries.
 
Responding paramedics took the motorcyclist to Sharp Memorial Hospital for proper treatment. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
 
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
 
Give way to small vehicles like motorcycles to avoid accidents. Increase your following distance behind motorcyclists and maintain a safe speed. Practice defensive driving and do not drive while intoxicated.
