Novato Man Killed after Car Crash on Highway 101 near Alameda del Prado
NOVATO, CA (December 11, 2023) – A Novato man in his 70s died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101, Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 8, at about 5:15 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound Mazda veered off the freeway and drove onto the right shoulder. Then, it hit a parked Volkswagen sedan near Alameda del Prado.
Emergency crews pronounced the Volkswagen driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the Mazda driver, identified as a Calistoga man in his 60s, suffered minor injuries.
Responders closed two traffic lanes for at least an hour to make way for an investigation.
CHP ruled out intoxication as a factor in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
