Two Cars Collde on Highway 237 in San Jose Killing One Driver

SAN JOSE, CA (July 13, 2023) – A man died in a two-car accident on Highway 237 in North San Jose Saturday afternoon on July 8.

The fatal accident happened around 5:09 p.m., just west of First Street. According to CHP, the 47-year-old man was driving a 2004 Honda Civic when he veered to the left while driving in the far-left lane on eastbound Highway 237.

The Honda then struck the median, which sent it off to the right across all lanes of traffic. The car went off the roadway and into a concrete barrier on the edge of the road.

After colliding with the barrier, the Honda veered to the left again and hit a Toyota Tundra, driven by a 52-year-old man.

First responders rushed the driver of the Honda to a hospital with major injuries.

Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the man was declared dead. The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner withheld his identity at this time.

The Toyota driver was unharmed.

Drugs and alcohol were not suspected factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
