Semi Truck and Pickup Truck Collide on Highway 101 near Gaviota Coast Killing One Driver

 
GAVIOTA, CA (January 8, 2024) – A man was killed in a truck accident on Highway 101 near the Gaviota Coast early Friday morning on January 5.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 3:00 a.m. along the southbound highway near Dos Pueblos Canyon Road. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a pickup truck and a semi truck collided on the highway for unknown reasons.
 
The impact caused the pickup truck to catch fire, killing the male driver.
 
The driver of the semi only sustained minor injuries and refused to be transported to a hospital.
 
Officers said the pickup truck ended up in the median and the semi overturned with oil and debris scattered on the roadway.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
