Pedestrian Dies in Accident on Highway 242 in Concord

 
CONCORD, CA (September 26, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 242 in Concord early Friday morning, September 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:00 a.m. at the northbound Grant Street on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was walking within the roadway of the on-ramp when a Honda Civic approached.
 
The driver of the Honda was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck him.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed the man to a hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was declared dead.
 
The driver of the Honda was unhurt.
 
Crews closed the on-ramp to the highway for about 20 minutes while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The CHP was still investigating the fatality. They urged witnesses to call the Contra Costa CHP office in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
