Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on 8 Freeway in La Mesa

 
LA MESA, CA (October 26, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway in La Mesa Tuesday morning on October 24.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:30 a.m. just west of Baltimore Drive near Lake Murray. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado struck the male pedestrian along the eastbound freeway.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities said he was possibly a transient.
 
According to a witness, the victim ran out onto the freeway and stood in the roadway just prior to getting hit by the truck.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was involved. Further investigation is underway.
