Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Several Vehicles on 580 Freeway in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (August 29, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 580 Freeway in Oakland late Sunday evening on August 27.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m. near the Harrison Street off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck the male pedestrian along the westbound freeway.
 
After the crash, the female driver remained on scene and called authorities.
 
As officers were on their way to the scene, several other vehicles ran over the man.
 
The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor. CHP officers are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
