Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 10, 2022) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near Mission Bay Drive Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 5:50 a.m.
 
For unknown reasons, a pedestrian, only described as a male, began walking on the northbound side of the freeway when a Mazda SUV driver struck him. Subsequently, an unknown number of vehicles also ran over the man.
 
Due to the nature of the accident, the unidentified pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.
 
At this time, detectives investigating the case have not confirmed the ultimate cause of this pedestrian accident. However, any witnesses with additional information should contact the CHP.
