Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 10 Freeway in Indio
INDIO, CA (February 8, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 10 Freeway in Indio Monday evening.
This fatal pedestrian accident happened around 10:05 on the westbound freeway near Golf Center Parkway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the slow lane when a tractor-trailer struck him. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Authorities only described the victim as a 50-year-old San Bernardino resident.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Seacrest said the man has been identified, but authorities believe he might be a transient, making the process of locating family members more difficult. They will release his name after the family is notified.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash, officials said. Witnesses of pedestrian accident were urged to call CHP Officer Dyer at 760-772-5300.
