Speeding Rider Dies after Colliding with SUV on Mission Boulevard

 
MISSION BEACH, CA (February 9, 2022) – A man died in a motorcycle accident on Mission Boulevard in the Mission Beach area of San Diego on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:40 p.m. on February 6, at Pacific Beach Drive. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 25-year-old man was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at the intersection. He then slammed into the left side rear door of a Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by a 62-year-old woman.
 
Police said the Volkswagen had entered the intersection on a green light.
 
Responding paramedics took the gravely injured man to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The woman was taken to a different hospital with complaint of pain to her neck and back.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is underway. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved.
