Man Killed, Jesus Rodriguez Arrested in DUI Pedestrian Crash on University Avenue [Riverside, CA]

Police Arrest Drunk Driver after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (November 7, 2023) – A man died and Jesus Rodriguez was arrested in a DUI pedestrian crash in Riverside Sunday afternoon on November 5.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:08 p.m. at the intersection of University Avenue and Main Street. According to the Riverside Police Department, the suspect was driving a silver Honda Civic when he struck the male pedestrian who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
 
Aftter the crash, Rodriguez fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to Riverside Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
Police later located Rodriguez and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. They arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony hit and run.
