Driver Dies in Morning Santa Rosa Accident along Bennett Valley Road

 
SANTA ROSA, CA (March 14, 2022) – A man was killed in a car accident at Bennett Valley Road and Gardner Ranch Road on Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. on March 12 just south of Trione-Annadel State Park. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving his silver Volkswagen Beetle eastbound on Bennett Valley at a high rate of speed when he passed at least one car across a double yellow line.
 
The man lost control of the Beetle, swung into the westbound lane and shoulder and slammed into two trees. The impact propelled the Beetle back into the road.
 
A Nissan pickup truck traveling westbound then struck the Beetle.
 
As a result of the crash, the man driving the Beetle died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
The Nissan sustained minor damage, but the driver of that vehicle was unharmed.
 
At this time, this fatal crash is still under investigation.
