Man Killed, Arturo Carrera Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash on Van Nuys Boulevard [Pacoima, CA]

29-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima

 
PACOIMA, CA (February 26, 2024) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima Sunday morning on February 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:26 a.m. near Remick Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 70-year-old Arturo Sepulveda Carrera was driving a silver Nissan Cube eastbound on Van Nuys when he struck a 29-year-old male pedestrian who was walking in the eastbound lanes.
 
After striking the pedestrian, Carrera continued eastbound without stopping.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed the victim to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Police later found Carrera and arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. They booked him at 5:26 a.m. Sunday at the Van Nuys Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
