Man Killed, Alex Shilvock Injured in Traffic Accident on 5 Freeway [Buena Park, CA]

Passenger Dies after Car Struck Him and Two Others while Outside their Vehicles on 5 Freeway near Beach Boulevard

 
BUENA PARK, CA (March 30, 2023) – A man died and Alex Shilvock was injured when a vehicle crashed into them as they were exchanging information following a previous collision Monday evening in Buena Park.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:55 p.m. on March 27, along 5 Freeway near Beach Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles had collided and stopped in the second freeway lane. Both drivers got out, along with a male passenger in one of the vehicles. The drivers began exchanging information.
 
About a minute later, a third vehicle crashed into the two vehicles, both drivers, and the male passenger.
 
The male passenger died at the scene. He was a 33-year-old San Diego resident.
 
Shilvock, 24, was one of the two drivers from the first crash. He suffered broken ribs and lacerations, and was in critical condition. Paramedics took him and the second driver to a local hospital.
 
The driver of the third vehicle was unharmed.
 
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Officers asked witnesses to contact the CHP’s Westminster-area office at 714-622- 3600.
