Pedestrian Sustains Lacerated Liver after Hit by Truck on College Avenue in Redwood Village

 
REDWOOD VILLAGE, CA (August 29, 2023) – A 36-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian accident on College Avenue in Redwood Village neighborhood Saturday afternoon on August 26.
 
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. near University Avenue. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 73-year-old man was driving a 2007 Nissan Titan truck westbound on University Avenue and made a left turn onto northbound College Avenue.
 
At that same time, the male pedestrian was standing in the northbound left lane of College Avenue.
 
Police said the truck hit the pedestrian at the intersection.
 
As a result, the victim suffered a lacerated liver. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, where he underwent immediate surgery. He is expected to survive.
 
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, police said.
