Man Hospitalized in Pedestrian Accident on 54th Street in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 24, 2022) — A man was injured in a pedestrian accident on 54th Street near Chollas Parkway on Tuesday.
 
According to San Diego police, the pedestrian accident happened around 12:20 a.m. For unknown reasons, a man attempted to cross from the west sidewalk to the east, outside of a marked crosswalk.
 
However, an oncoming driver in a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer struck the victim in the southbound No. 2 lane.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and shuttled the 50-year-old pedestrian to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, including rib fractures and a liver laceration.
 
As for the 33-year-old driver of the Mercury, the individual remained at the scene and talked to authorities. At this time, the circumstances and liabilities of the crash are not available. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
