Man Dies after Hit by Vehicle on 5 Freeway in Capistrano Beach

 
CAPISTRANO BEACH, CA (August 30, 2021) – A man died after being hit by a car on 5 Freeway in Capistrano Beach Sunday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:04 p.m. on August 29, at the Pacific Coast Highway. According to an initial report by the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was running in freeway lanes towards the center divider when a Ford Explorer struck him.
 
When officers arrived, the man was lying in the roadway with fatal injuries. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The victim was wearing a blue pants and had no shirt on. Authorities only described him as someone in his late 20s or early 30s.
 
A blue Toyota, a white Honda Fit, a gray Toyota 4Runner and a red Dodge Challenger were found at the scene, unknown if they were also involved in the crash.
 
Further investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
