Pedestrian Struck on Main Street in Hesperia

HESPERIA, CA (December 20, 2024) — A man was hit and injured by a car on Main Street and E Avenue.

According to reports, the pedestrian accident happened on December 17 around 5:55 p.m. The parents of the victim said they were shopping nearby at Stater Brothers when their 33-year-old autistic son exited the store and began crossing Main Street. Witnesses added that the pedestrian crossed on a red traffic signal and was halfway through the intersection when the light turned green. From there, an oncoming 2010 GMC Canyon work truck struck the pedestrian.

Minutes later, San Bernardino County Fire responded and transported the victim to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators who have yet to determine the outstanding details of this crash.

To minimize the risks of pedestrian accidents, slow down at intersections. Prepare to yield to a pedestrian and slowly proceed once a light turns green. If you see other drivers slow down, approach the scene with caution.
