Driver Suffers Critical Injuries after Crashing into Excavator on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA (September 16, 2023) – A man was critically injured in a two-vehicle accident on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley Thursday morning on September 14.
The accident happened around 7:03 a.m. near Deep Creek Road. According to the Apple Valley Police Department, the man was driving a Ford Maverick when he slammed into a vehicle pulling a trailer with an excavator and was stopped at the light.
The impact caused the Ford to become stuck on the excavator.
An off-duty nurse stopped to assist. Construction workers also assisted with first aid and directing traffic while first responders arrived.
Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded and removed the man from the mangled Ford truck. The man sustained a head injury.
Paramedics then took the driver of the Ford to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Apple Valley police is handling the investigation.
