Angel Velasquez Arrested after Police Pursuit Crash Kills Two Children in Mountain View

 
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (December 13, 2023) – Authorities identified 8-year-old Malikai Orozco-Romero and his 4-year-old brother, Mason, as the children killed in a police pursuit crash on 805 Freeway, Friday evening.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened on December 8, at about 6:30 p.m. A BMW was being pursued by police when it hit a Honda in the southbound lanes near 43rd Street.
 
Both the BMW and the Honda went off the road and down an embankment. The Honda crashed into a tree, causing it to fall on top of the car. Then, the car caught fire.

As per reports, there were four people inside the Honda, including Malikai and Mason, their mother, and their nanny.
 
Emergency crews transported the two children to Rady Children’s Hospital, where they later died. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Malikai and Mason’s family with expenses.
 
Meanwhile, their mother and their nanny suffered major injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
 
The BMW driver, identified as 20-year-old Angel Daniel Salgado Velasquez, attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, officers later located and arrested him.
 
Velasquez faces charges of Hit and Run: Death/Injury, Evading Police, and Great Bodily Injury.
