Apple Valley Man Dies after Struck by Vehicle on 40 Freeway in Barstow

 
BARSTOW, CA (June 4, 2023) – Macario David Herrera was killed in a pedestrian accident in Barstow Tuesday evening last week on May 20.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:42 p.m. on 40 Freeway at East Main Street. According to the Barstow Police Department, Herrera was walking in the area when a vehicle struck him.
 
Herrera was rushed to Barstow Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:15 p.m.
 
It is unclear if the involved driver stayed after the crash.
 
The California Highway Patrol Barstow Division is handling the investigation.
