2-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by SUV in Fremont Parking Lot

 
FREMONT, CA (August 27, 2023) – Leonid Grigorev was hit and killed by a car in Fremont Thursday night on August 24.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m. in the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue. According to the Fremont Police Department, a moving SUV struck the 2-year-old boy in a business center parking lot.
 
Fremont firefighters rushed the boy to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim was a Fremont resident.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Police did not indicate if the car was backing up or going forward. They also did not say who the child was with. He was not in a stroller at the time he was struck.
 
Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
