Lanes Shut Down in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway in Newhall

 
NEWHALL, CA (July 11, 2023) — Officers closed several lanes following Thursday’s multi-car accident on the 5 Freeway near Calgrove Boulevard.
 
According to reports, the multi-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 a.m. near the 14 Freeway interchange. For an unknown reason, a pickup truck crashed in the center divider and blocked two freeway lanes. Moments later, two cars somehow became involved, and a big rig struck some debris nearby before becoming disabled in the slow lane.
 
Shortly after, paramedics and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash site and issued a SigAlert for the southbound side of the freeway. As of 6:00 a.m., two lanes remain blocked.
