Bicyclist Dies in Early Morning Crash in San Jacinto

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (December 9, 2021) – Katlyn Braley was killed in a bicycle accident in the north end of San Jacinto early Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:05 a.m. on December 8, on State Street just north of Record Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 31-year-old victim from San Jacinto was riding her bicycle northbound on the two-lane road, which was dark because of no street lights.
 
At the same time, a gray 2013 Kia Optima was going northbound when it struck the rear of the bicycle. The driver did not initially realize that he had hit a person and continued north, but he immediately turned around and returned to the scene.
 
The motorist, a 58-year-old Redlands man, called 911 when he found Braley in the roadway.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced Braley dead at the scene.
 
Authorities said the driver was not found to have been driving under the influence.
 
Further investigation is underway.
