15-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Rinconada Drive in Canoas Garden Neighborhood
SAN JOSE, CA (June 8, 2023) – Justin Estira was killed in a pedestrian accident in the city’s Canoas Garden neighborhood early Wednesday morning on June 7.
The fatal accident happened around 12:55 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Rinconada Drive. According to the San Jose Police Department, a female minor was driving 2019 Subaru sedan at low speed in a parking lot when she struck the victim.
The impact caused Estira fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was a 15-year-old Willow Glen High School student, according to the coroner’s office and school district.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Authorities did not say in their release if the driver was fully licensed, permitted or driving without a license.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
