Jon Weir Detained, Pedestrian Killed in DUI Crash on Victoria Street at Placentia Avenue

 
COSTA MESA, CA (January 6, 2022) — Jon Weir faces charges in Tuesday’s DUI accident on Victoria Street at Placentia Avenue.
 
According to Costa Mesa police officers, the accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, 65-year-old Jon Scott Weir lost control of his eastbound truck and rolled over before hitting a light pole. As a result, his car caught on fire.
 
Upon responding, officers learned that Weir had managed to extricate himself from the wreckage and that a pedestrian had been struck while waiting on the sidewalk to cross. Tragically, the pedestrian, described only as a male, suffered fatal injuries.
 
Following the crash, officers arrested Weir on suspicion of DUI. At this time, the victim’s identity and the outstanding details of this crash require additional investigation. However, any witnesses should call the Costa Mesa police.
