Suspected Drunk Driver Dies During High-Speed Pursuit on 110 Freeway at Glenarm Street

 
PASADENA, CA (June 20, 2023) – Jesse Ramirez was killed in a DUI high-speed pursuit on 110 Freeway in South Pasadena early Sunday morning on June 18.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:45 a.m. at Glenarm Street, where the 110 Freeway ends. According to the Pasadena Fire Department, Ramirez was driving a 2012 Kia Rio northbound on Arroyo Seco Parkway with no lights on and unable to stay in one lane.
 
When officers attempted to stop the car, Ramirez accelerated at a high rate of speed and rear-ended two vehicles that were stopped at a red light.
 
As a result of the crash, Ramirez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 33-year-old old Los Angeles resident.
 
Three other people were rushed to a hospital with moderate to major injuries.
 
Officers said Ramirez was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was also suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Further investigation is underway.
