42-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Jurupa Valley

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (September 25, 2023) – Jamie Pruitt was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Jurupa Valley Wednesday afternoon on September 20.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Mission Boulevard, just near Crestmore Road. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Pruitt was walking on Mission Boulevard when a white 2012 Toyota Corolla plowed into her. It was unclear whether she was crossing the roadway or walking within one of the lanes at the time.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Corolla did not stop.
 
Pruitt died at the scene. She was a 42-year-old Jurupa Valley resident.
 
On Friday, deputies served a search warrant in the 2800 block of Armstrong Road in Jurupa Valley and located the Corolla. The search warrant also lead to information regarding the identity of the hit-and-run suspect.
 
The suspect, 23-year-old Jose Manuel Aguilar-Acosta of Jurupa Valley turned himself in to deputies on Saturday. He was accompanied by 24-year-old Erika Guevara, also of Jurupa Valley.
 
Deputies booked Aguilar-Acosta into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.
 
Guevara was also booked on suspicion of being an accessory.
