James Mattos Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Dinuba Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

Pickup Truck and Sedan Collide at Dinuba and West Avenues

 
FRESNO, CA (September 28, 2023) – James Mattos was killed in a two-vehicle accident north of Caruthers Tuesday morning on September 26.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:00 a.m. in the area of Dinuba Avenue and West Avenue. According to the CHP, Mattos was driving a GMC Sierra when he collided with a Nissan Altima carrying two men. The two vehicles ended up in an orchard after the crash. The GMC rolled and came to rest upside down.
 
Mattos, a 69-year-old Fresno resident, died at the scene, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
The other two men were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with moderate to major injuries.
 
Neither alcohol not drugs were suspected of being factor in the crash. The CHP is still investigating the accident.
