DUI Crash Involving Big Rig in Winchester Kills Two People

 
WINCHESTER, CA (September 10, 2023) – Israel Bermudez and Paloma Casares died in a DUI crash in Winchester Wednesday morning on September 6.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:40 a.m. on Domenigoni Parkway at Leon Road. According to the CHP, 39-year-old Delwyn Dewion Randle of Westminster was driving a 2013 International box truck eastbound on Domenigoni without slowing after the light turned red at the intersection.
 
In the same lane were a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a 2022 BMW X3, both were stopped for the light. Adjacent to the BMW, also stopped was a Dodge Durango SUV.
 
The box truck crashed into the right rear of the Chevrolet before crashing into the rear of the BMW. It then continued and crashed into a light pole, sheering it off at its base, before crashing into a fire hydrant.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Bermudez and Casares dead at the scene. Both were occupants of BMW. Casares, 32 years from Hemet, was the driver, and Bermudez, 25 years old of Buena Park, was the rear passenger.

The front passenger of the BMW, a 31-year-old Beaumont man, suffered moderate injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 32-year-old Hemet woman, had minor injuries.

The driver and passenger in the Dodge were not hurt.

Officers arrested Randle for driving under the influence of drugs. They booked him into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of DUI resulting in death at $100,000 bail.
