Suspected DUI Driver Causes Three-Vehicle Crash on 215 Freeway in Murrieta Seriously Injuring 6-Year-Old Boy

 
MURRIETA, CA (May 4, 2023) – Isaiah F. Orona was arrested after a DUI crash involving three vehicles in Murrieta early Monday morning on May 1.
 
The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. on 215 Freeway near Linnel Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 26-year-old suspect from Menifee was driving a 2020 Dodge Charger when he made an unsafe turning movement and slammed into the concrete center divider.
 
Orona then lost control of the Charger and veered back into lanes, crashing into a 2004 Hyundai, driven by a 55-year-old Menifee man. He then veered into the opposite direction and collided with a 2017 Kia Sportage occupied by a family of four.
 
First responders found a 6-year-old boy in the Kia with major injuries, along with his father, only identified as a 27-year-old Las Vegas man.
 
Orona was also seriously injured. Three other people only sustained minor injuries.
 
Paramedics transported the injured parties to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment.
 
Officers determined that Orona was intoxicated during the crash. They arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
 
Further investigation is underway.
