Two-Car Crash on Highway 168 in Fresno Kills 37-Year-Old Woman
FRESNO, CA (September 11, 2023) – Helena Rhinehart was killed in a two-car accident in east central Fresno early Tuesday morning on September 5.
The fatal accident happened just after 3:00 a.m. on Highway 168 near the Ashlan Avenue off-ramp. According to the CHP, 23-year-old Terik Jones was driving a Dodge Charger eastbound when he lost control of his car. He then struck a Nissan Altima, driven by Rhinehart.
Both vehicles ended up in the center median, where the Nissan landed on its roof.
Rhinehart was heading home after a shift at Community Regional Medical Center when she was hit.
She was rushed her to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was a 37-year-old Clovis resident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Meanwhile, Jones suffered major injuries.
Officers said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, but Jones could face a misdemeanor manslaughter charge. Further investigation is underway.
Rhinehart leaves behind four children, all under the age of 15. Her loved ones set up a GoFundMe account to her family.
