70-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Market Street in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 23, 2023) – Gilberto Gallegos died after hit by a vehicle in San Diego Friday on January 20.
 
The fatal crash happened in the 4200 block of Market Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, Gallegos was crossing northbound on the westbound lane of Market Street when a female driver struck him with her vehicle.
 
After the crash, the driver called 9-1-1. Firefighters arrived soon after and performed CPR.
 
Paramedics then rushed Gallegos to the Trauma Bay of the Emergency Department of Scripps Mercy Hospital.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Gallegos did not survive and was pronounced dead. He was 70 years old from San Diego.
 
An investigation into this fatality is underway. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved.
