Gilbert Duran Jr. Killed in DUI Crash on 10 Freeway [Upland, CA]

DUI Crash on 10 Freeway in Upland Kills 31-Year-Old Pomona Man

 
UPLAND, CA (June 29, 2023) – Gilbert Duran Jr. was killed in a DUI crash on 10 Freeway in Upland Sunday evening on June 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m. just west of Euclid Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Duran Jr. was driving recklessly in a Mercury sedan west on the freeway when he collided into eight other vehicles in the westbound lanes. He then lost control and traveled over the concrete center median into the eastbound lanes, crashing into the front end of a Nissan sedan.
 
As a result, Duran Jr. suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 31-year-old Pomona resident.
 
The driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
 
Authorities believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still under investigation. They urged witnesses or anyone with further information to contact Officer N. Zollinger at the California Highway Patrol, Rancho Cucamonga Area at 909-980-3449.
