Reseda Man Remains in Critical Condition after Struck by Car while Riding His Bike in Woodland Hills
WOODLAND HILLS, CA (June 15, 2023) – George Pareta is on life support after a bicycle accident in Woodland Hills Thursday morning on June 8.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 65-year-old victim from Reseda had been riding his bike to Trader Joe’s, where he worked, when a car made a sudden turn in front of him, catapulting into the air and sending him crashing onto the pavement where he struck his head.
George’s heart had stopped beating for some 25 minutes, but paramedics were able to resuscitate him and rush him to Northridge Hospital Medical Center where he remains unresponsive and on life support. He fractured his neck, broke his nose, has swelling on his brain and is paralyzed.
The family started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for mounting medical expenses.
It is unclear if the involved driver stayed after the crash. Further investigation is underway.
