Fred Von Gunten lll Killed While on Job at Champion Industrial Contractors [Modesto, CA]

Employee Dies after Trapped Beneath Forklift at Modesto Company

 
MODESTO, CA (October 27, 2023) – Fred Von Gunten lll was killed while on the job in Modesto Wednesday afternoon on October 25.
 
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at Champion Industrial Contractors, where Von Gunten was operating a forklift.
 
Modesto Fire Department crews responded and found Von Gunten pinned underneath the vehicle. They used airbags to stabilize the forklift and remove Von Gunten.
 
Lifesaving efforts were made, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The victim’s father said his son did he have any training, any experience or any certifications because he was hired to be a delivery driver for Champion Industrial.
 
No information was available from authorities on the circumstances of this fatality.
 
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is handling the investigation.
