SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (April 3, 2023) – Four people died after a multi-vehicle DUI crash on Highway 99 in San Joaquin County early Friday morning on March 31.

The fatal crash happened around 12:25 a.m. near French Camp Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 32-year-old Stockton woman was driving a black Honda Accord northbound when she collided with the rear of a U-Haul truck towing a flat bead trailer.

The driver of the U-Haul lost control of the vehicle and veered into the passenger side of a tractor-trailer.

The woman then made a U-turn on the highway and began heading southbound on the northbound side of the highway when she then collided head-on with a black Subaru Impreza.

As a result, the Stockton woman died at the scene. The three occupants of the vehicle she hit also died in the crash. None of them have been identified, but two have been described as a 19-year-old male from Pasco, Washington, and a 20-year-old woman from Sacramento.

The Stockton woman was reportedly driving under the influence.

Two other vehicles going northbound on Highway 99 collided with the Honda and the Subaru.

The driver of one of the other vehicles, 40-year-old Nicholas Craggs of Stockton, suffered major injuries. He is also suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.
