Fernando Flores-Roman Involved in Deadly Crash on 5 Freeway near Jayne Avenue

 
COALINGA, CA (June 7, 2023) — Fernando Flores-Roman was involved in a fatal accident on the 5 Freeway near Jayne Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian crash happened around 11:00 p.m. Monday. For reasons that require further investigation, 31-year-old Fernando Flores-Roman was unable to see a man working on his car on the right shoulder. The Myrtle Point, Oregon man was reportedly standing within the roadway when Flores-Roman struck him at the edge of the lane.
 
Investigators learned that the Peterbilt big rig, driven by Flores-Roman, was traveling at about 55 miles per hour prior to the impact. They also learned that neither alcohol nor drugs played a factor.
 
The man working on his car passed away in the accident. Officials do not have his name, but we will update this report once we receive more information.
