Fatina Chaney Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 80 Freeway near Raley Boulevard

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (September 18, 2023) — Fatina Chaney was hit and killed by several cars on the 80 Freeway near Raley Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian accident happened around 4:00 a.m. For unclear reasons, a Sacramento police officer tried to pull over a vehicle near Evergreen Street and El Paso Boulevard. However, the driver did not comply and led police on a chase before officers lost sight of the driver.
 
Subsequently, police received a call about a collision on the 80 Freeway, possibly involving the suspect vehicle. Upon arriving, officers secured the scene and learned that 19-year-old Fatina Chaney, of Sacramento, was struck by a large vehicle and several other cars thereafter.
 
It appears that she and several others poured out of the suspect car before the fatal accident. Fatina tried to flee on foot.
 
Soon after, firefighter paramedics arrived and confirmed her dead. Due to the crash, debris spanned all eastbound lanes for at least 200 feet, prompting an eastbound lane closure. Caltrans also had to repair a guardrail.
 
At this time, reports did not say if police apprehended the other suspects in the car. If anyone has more information on this incident, please call the CHP.
