Police Arrest Petaluma DUI Suspect Evan Weise after Injuring Pedestrian in Hit-and-Run Crash

 
PETALUMA, CA (June 14, 2022) – Police arrested Evan Weise after a DUI hit-and-run crash in Petaluma, late Saturday evening on June 11.
 
The crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Kentucky Street. According to the Petaluma Police Department, the 22-year-old suspect from Cotati was driving a gray BMW at a high rate of speed when he struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
 
After hitting the victim, Weise kept driving and hit a vehicle at the intersection of Kentucky and Washington streets. His BMW then veered off the road and crashed into a pole and a tree.
 
Witnesses of the crash approached Weise in an effort to give him medical aid, but Weise punched one of them.
 
When police arrived, Weise was uncooperative with officers. The officers put him in a restraint device after he kicked one of them.
 
Police said the driver that Weise hit drove off and caused a second collision with two other vehicles on Washington Street.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the pedestrian to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Police arrested Weise and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, battery and assault on a police officer.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
