49-Year-Old Unhoused Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Car while Inside Encampment in Central Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (April 1, 2024) – Ervin Price was killed in a hit-and-run crash in central Fresno early Saturday morning on March 30.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:00 a.m. on Highway 41 near Highway 180. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2015 Land Rover was traveling southbound on Highway 41 to westbound Highway 180 when it failed to negotiate the curb.
 
The Land Rover then went off the roadway and struck Price who was in the encampment.
 
Price suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 49 years old and was unhoused.
 
The driver of the Land Rover fled the scene on foot.
 
Officers originally arrested a 27-year-old woman for DUI because they believed she was the driver. They later found out that she was the passenger.
 
At this time, authorities are still searching for the driver.
 
Further investigation is underway.
