Ernest Lugo Detained, Driver Killed in Wrong-Way DUI Crash on Domenigoni Parkway at Alamar Mesa Drive

 
WINCHESTER, CA (October 24, 2023) — Ernest Lugo faces charges in Sunday’s fatal DUI accident on Domenigoni Parkway at Alamar Mesa Drive.
 
According to reports, the two-car crash happened around 7:20 p.m. Sunday. For DUI reasons, 54-year-old Lugo entered the eastbound lane in a westbound 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck and plowed into an eastbound 2008 BMW in a head-on fashion.
 
As a result of the crash, both vehicles sustained significant damage and a Nissan trailing behind the Chevrolet suffered minor damage from the debris.
 
Moments later, Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived but pronounced the driver of the BMW, whose identity is unavailable, dead at the scene. Lugo and his passenger suffered minor injuries.
 
Following the crash, police arrested Lugo on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
