Afternoon Broadside Crash in Palmdale Kills Two Women, DUI Suspect Arrested

 
PALMDALE, CA (January 8, 2023) – Ericka Gonzalez and Esmeralda Rangel both died in a DUI broadside accident in Palmdale on January 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:41 p.m. at 100th Street East and East Avenue R. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white GMC pickup truck broadsided a red Hyundai Venue compact SUV at the intersection. The impact downed a utility pole and power lines.
 
Gonzalez, a 26-year-old Los Angeles resident, and Rangel, 23 years old from Little Rock, were killed in the crash. Both were occupants in the Hyundai.
 
Meanwhile, police arrested a man for driving under the influence.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
